From millions of interactions to acquiring droves of new customers, this is just a sample of some of the work I've done and the immediate and long-lasting impact it's had.
Case Studies
I've helped dozens of companies foster relationships online with targeted audiences on both global and local scales.
Nike
Old soles
-
Nike's 20-year-old Reuse-A-Shoe program needed new life, and it could only come from building new communities of advocates. To realize that, I helped devise a strategy that not only helped emphasize the program, but also the brand the audience loves.
Big jumps
-
In truly emphasizing both the brand they love and the good the company does, brand advocacy and awareness took a major leap forward. The brand’s social media presences grew by 1,669 percent, engagement jumped by 880 percent and impressions soared by 1,022 percent.
A collection of content
-
Nike is not only a study in how social media can be used to increase awareness, but also in how listening is critical to success. While Millennials are known to support brands with a cause, listening to Nike customers revealed that they didn’t want to hear about the good the company was doing through its Nike Reuse-A-Shoe program, day in and day out.
Get your kicks
-
To further increase engagement, a social media contest was used. The Show Us Your Shoes photo contest was designed to highlight the very thing that drives the program: the community's kicks. The promotion generated thousands of more followers, increased engagement. One blogger with millions of readers also covered the contest on her blog.
best western
well taken care of
-
In working with a small team on an SEO strategy, I was able to contribute to efforts that generated more than a $50 million increase in revenue from organic search traffic alone. The results far exceeded Best Western's expectations for the project.
going the extra mile
-
I wrote optimized copy for hundreds of hotel websites and web pages for the world's largest hotel chain. In following a specific format that we devised with the client's input, we were able to also decrease the time spent updating web pages and reduce the risk of errors.
it takes a team
-
As the project grew, I also helped train and onboard additional people, ensuring that they understood the strategy, the process and the deliverable's format.
a free upgrade
-
The coolest thing about the gig? I learned so much about our great country — from its rich history to the incredible sights and attractions of little-known towns.
THE university of arizona
High marks for social media
-
With a strategic plan in place, the University of Arizona was able to garner impressive results across its many presences on social networks. The efforts aligned with this plan garnered over 560 million impressions (that’s 13.5 times the amount of pageviews the University’s website accumulated) and generated an earned value of $3 million.
EDUCATION ENTHUSIASTS
-
Additionally, through thoughtful outreach and collaboration, influencers like Deepak Chopra, Lockheed Martin, Savannah Guthrie, Hoodie Allen and NBC’s Community engaged with the university's accounts. Among peer institutions (including UCLA, Michigan State and Ohio State), the UA often had the highest growth and engagement rates.
FROM THE WILDCAT'S MOUTH
-
Sometimes a story or a trending topic was too good to pass up. While it was beyond my duties, I’d occasionally help create content for the UA’s news site. Additionally, I’d pass many of these stories and tips along to my colleagues, ensuring that our efforts would complement each other. From getting the inside scoop on a heartwarming proposal between two alumni to speaking with the nation’s foremost experts on important topics, I took a thoughtful, personal approach to crafting these stories.
THE CLAWS COME OUT
-
One such example of content that was inspired by chatter on social media and in the media was when the university launched the first-ever hip-hop studies minor. While other institutions would shy away from drawing attention to the fact that they were the butt of a joke in a few late-night comedians’ monologues, I took the initiative to attract a younger audience by taking the jests in stride and tell them more about the first-of-its-kind program.
Work samples
Using compelling copy to drive conversions, I've helped many brands convey key messages and tell their stories.
insight
industrious IT
-
I worked with Insight, a Fortune 500 information technology consultancy, as a freelance writer for several years. I’ve covered myriad industries and various high-tech solutions for the company.
SUPPORTED FORMATS
-
In working with the enterprise company, I wrote articles, data sheets, eBooks, social media updates and white papers. I primarily focused on the company's cloud offerings, with an emphasis on Microsoft solutions.
INSIGHTS, IRL
-
One of the most impactful articles that I wrote for the company involved interviewing teachers who were using Office 365 to educate and expand the worlds of their students. Hearing about how much of an impact technology can have on educators and pupils was inspiring — for both myself and the audience.
NOTHING BUT .NET
-
In another article series, I secured an interview with the Oklahoma City Thunder to talk about their use of Microsoft's CRM solutions. Scott Loft, vice president of ticket sales, retention and database operations, told me all about how they used technology to become guest relations champions by doing the right thing.
